Vista Oaks Charter School opened its doors in 2014 with the ambitious and noble goal of offering high-quality educational programs to a sector of the population which is under-served by other schools: homeschooled students or students for whom chronic absenteeism puts them at risk of falling behind or dropping out of school altogether. Vista Oaks’ unique design allows for the complete individualization of curriculums based on each child’s particular circumstances and abilities. Vista Oaks serves a diverse community that needs a great deal of attention and flexibility.

A Place For Your Child to Grow

Vista Oaks provides a supportive and motivating learning environment which encourages all of its students, grades TK-12, to take control of their own educational development. The Vista Oaks teachers and administrators assist students in choosing curriculums and offer guidance in scheduling, finding educational materials, and paying for tutors and other enrichment activities. The students use their “academic budgets” to create personalized hybrid study programs which include online, on-campus, and independent study courses to meet their unique needs.

Many students face chronic absenteeism due to a range of personal issues: caring for a family member, homelessness and hunger, bullying, illness, or mental and emotional issues. As such, these students need to not only feel safe but also be able to adapt their learning to their situations. At its two campuses, the Lodi Learning Center and the Byron Learning Center, Vista Oaks Charter School has accomplished these goals by providing the necessary physical space and intellectual support which challenges and encourages their students to reach for excellence, surpass their potential, and truly bloom into lifelong learners.
